Police: Suspect shot by officer during undercover operation in southeast Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus Division of Police said they are investigating an officer-involved shooting Wednesday night.

Police said it happened in the 2800 block of Duvall Lane in southeast Columbus around 8 p.m.

Columbus police said a SWAT officer was undercover to do an exchange set up on LetGo.com, a site used to buy and sell mainly used items.

Police said the suspect, 18-year-old Kyler Collier, robbed the officer and another officer involved in the operation shot Collier.

Collier was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

The officers were not hurt.

Police identified the officer who fired his gun as Robert Vass, who is a 25-year veteran of the Columbus Division of Police.
