Man arrested for aggravated murder in fiancee’s death in Newark

NEWARK, Ohio - A 19-year-old man has been arrested for aggravated murder after his fiancee was shot and killed Wednesday morning, according to Newark police.

Newark police said officers responded to an apartment in the 100 block of South Westmoor Avenue just before 10:30 a.m. for a report of a woman who possibly shot herself.

When they arrived, officers found 20-year-old Sierra Beal dead.

Her fiancé, Kameron Skally, claimed Beal had shot herself.

Detectives then arrived on scene to investigate.

Police said it was determined Skally killed Beal based on evidence at the scene and statements Skally made.

Skally was taken to the Licking County Justice Center.

The Licking County prosecutor’s office will review the case.
